How To Make A Sunglasses Holder? (With Crystal Light Container)

If you are wondering how to make a sunglasses holder using a Crystal Light container, then you are in luck.

In this simple guide I show you how to make a sunglasses holder that you can throw into your bag to protect them on-the-go.

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s take a look at how to make something fun and easy!

Why Make A Sunglasses Holder Using Crystal Light?

If you are a fan of iced tea, then it is not a surprise if you love Crystal Light. There are so many flavors to choose from, such as strawberry lemonade, tropical, and even wild strawberry.

It gives those who like to add some flavor to their water a tasty option. However, the only downside is the plastic packaging.

Even so, there is a really good way of turning this negative into a positive, and that is by using the plastic to make items you can use.

On the plus side, nobody will even know that you have upcycled some Crystal Light packaging. Awesome, huh?

There is no doubt that you are here for any other reason than making a sunglasses holder using a Crystal Light container. So, you better read on to find out how to do it!

How To Make A Crystal Light Sunglasses Holder Using The Container?

Here is a simple guide on how to make a sunglasses holder using the Crystal Light container:

You Will Need

  • Crystal Light container
  • Thin card – any color
  • (Optional) patterned paper
  • Scissors or craft knife (if using the latter you will need a self-healing mat)
  • (Optional) glue
  • Pencil
  • Scotch tape

How To Make?

Step 1: Get The Container Ready

Before you can begin the process of making a sunglasses holder, you will need to remove the outer sticker – oh, and all of the tea packaging!

This will be wrapped around the case, so you will want to remove all of it. If there is a problem with removing it, use a damp cloth to wet it slightly.

This will help to peel the sticker away from the plastic surface. You should be left with an empty and clear plastic container.

Step 2: Create The Inner Sleeve

Place the container flat side down on the thin piece of cardboard that you have chosen to use. Using a pencil, making a point of where the bottom and top of the container is.

Remove the container. Use these two points to draw a faint line using a ruler. This will be the length size you need to fill the container.

You will then want to draw two other lines to create the width length before connecting again down the length side.

You should have a rectangle. Cut this rectangle out and place it into the container. It should overlap a little bit.

If the rectangle is far too long and is overlapping a lot, then cut it down to a size where the overlap is about two inches.

Use a tiny bit of Scotch tape to connect the overlap together while it is still in the container.

Remove the inner lining from the container and place a long strip of Scotch tape down the seam to hold it in place.

Step 3: Add Additional Creative Designs (Or Finish)

You can just leave the casing as you like.

If you are happy with the block color, then place the inner sleeve into the Crystal Light container along with the sunglasses, and there you have it – you have made a sunglasses case.

However, if you want to add a design, then you should carry on with the process.

Going back to step 2 – before you stick the inner sleeve together after finalizing the size, you can use the inner sleeve to draw around on patterned paper and so on.

You will then need to glue this patterned paper onto the thin cardboard. You can also add stickers, drawings, and anything else that you want to add to make it unique.

Once you are happy with how it looks, then follow the rest of step 2 to finish off creating the inner sleeve.

Just make sure that what you add is not too bulky, and that there are not so many layers that the glasses do not fit into the container.

Step 4: Finished

Once you are happy with the inner sleeve and it is connected together, place it into the container of Crystal Light.

Now you have a totally unique sunglasses case that has been made by upcycling the packaging of Crystal Light.

It may even make a great craft to do with the kids during the holidays, or as a stocking stuffer.

Final Thoughts

There is no doubting that Crystal Light is super delicious. However, for each iced tea you buy, you are left with a plastic container.

If you are looking for a really fun craft project (see also “10 Fun Easter Crafts That You Will Love“) that will also give you something you can use, then this guide is for you.

It is really simple to create as well, and there are many options to design it just the way you like to fit your interests and style.

Not only that, there are other ways to use a Crystal Light container too, such as a pencil holder and even a nightlight cover to create a different color of light in the room.
